Photography has been with us for a long time. Although Digtial Imaging was created just about ten years ago, yet it becomes the hotest item today.

For the recent years, with ample communication tools and marketing technique, every new product can draw a wide and forceful public attention. Always let us feel that it will replace what we have before. Remember APS a few years ago, the media had mislead us that all conventional cameras and films would be obsolete. Such kind of irresponsible report should lead to captial punishment in the old days. Although the morality of journalism is outside our scope, but we feel that we must help our readers not to be confused by this kind of matter. APS is not a bad creation. It has a lot of advantage for general public. But it will never be able to replace everything.

Photography is a technique to make images and its influence and application is the greatest among all. Every science and daily living have been reformed by it. If we check the progress of science before photography, we shall find all progress in a dead slow speed because scientists could not have any substantial way to prove and improve upon.

Living without images, news with words only, learning with assumptions, space program without imaging etc. would be hardly imagined by us today. In fact, photography has revolutionised civilization. The major reason is the true image of photography that no one can refuse to believe. Seeing is believing. See.

Digital Imaging will count on its application to be successful. It must contribute something to us to keep it alive. Digtial Imaging is part of the Imaging. It would be taken as true image too. With its structure, it can make use of the computerisation for every application. Digital Imaging solves a lot of conventional problems, e.g. retouching, combination, color separation etc. It creates new application, e.g. presentation, desktop publishing, web page etc. Taking out image quality problem, a great thing that Digital Imaging can do is to reserve all color and B/W images forever. This is the major reason of our research for it.

Understanding Digital Imaging application and the knowledge of such kind of arrangement will lead our readers to enjoy its contribution, not just a trendy gimmick or any tea talk subject. If one does not need any of the above mentioned applications, Digital Imaging will mean nothing for him. But, it is impossible to avoid meeting digital images in future, perhaps even now.
