Image sublimation for Inkjet paper by F H Tong I use Canon Pixma iP4500 to print with Ilford paper and Canon Pixma Pro 9000 to print with Harman paper. All prints are scanned to show here. Difference from before, the latest inkjet printer including driver have reached a great standard and the printed image almost maintain the exact colors of the original image file. Harman inkjet paper is designed from traditional photo technique; therefore it is necessary to adjust the image in order to get the best quality. From my testing, the best way is to use the Level function of Photoshop to adjust the tone including the low value, high value and the middle value. To keep the original colors of the image unaffected by this adjustment, we must change the IMAGE MODE to Lab first and choose the Lightness to edit. Change back to RGB mode afterward. As for B/W image, if the original is color, then use Photoshop etc. to change the image to Greyscale. For B/W images, it is not needed to use Lab. To print B/W image, it is necessary to choose printer with gray ink e.g. Canon Pro 9500. Otherwise the gray tone may have colors instead. It needs further test to offer better guidance and we shall continue to update such information. Please note that the following demo requires moving up and down to see the details of operation. I have tried to change the layout but it seems that there is no way to reduce. Also, I advise to use SAVE AS after adjustment so that the result is for the inkjet printing only. Let the original image file remains unchanged. Printing can be done with Photoshop or Irfanview or the manufacturers' software. It is reminded that the printer setting is very important and must follow the suggestion by Ilford or Harman. Working Demo |
