Selection of Inkjet paper by F H Tong

This will base on Ilford and Harman inkjet paper only because I need to test before giving any advice.

Ilford inkjet paper has different design including Photo and Premium Photo, to meet different inkjet printers. As Premium Photo is suitable for Canon, Epson and HP, therefore only Premium Photo is chosen for HK and Macau now.

Surface type includes Gloss, Satin and Pearl etc. and for the time being, we have Gloss and Satin.

Harman inkjet paper has Gloss, Matt and Matt Warmtone.

Basing on all aspects, Ilford inkjet paper is suitable for all types of application, simple and lower cost. Harman inkjet paper is suitable for high quality demand and one must has certain experience of digital imaging to control.

Harman Gloss and Matt inkjet papers are suitable for color works.

Matt Warmtone is designed for B/W image. It can work for color too except the paper base is a bit yellowish and depends on individual choice.

Surface texture is always the choice for photographers since the very old days. Images requiring sharper details or higher contrast will work well with Gloss surface. Images with rich texture or requiring greater gradation work good with matt or satin surface. Some may like gloss or matt because of personal taste. This is, of course, a personal preference.
